Hum. The area between my wheel ribs is gloss black. I bought the car 20 years ago and this is the color they were. Most of the hubcap rib's paint is warn off but appears to be similar to the original body color. Never easy but thank you.
The wheels I posted above are a set I bought back in the 90's. The clear is lifting on them, but I seem to recall the color was more of a charcoal or gunmetal color than black. Here's a better picture I found on the internet.
It may be the light, but they also appear to be more of a charcoal picture. Your wheels look so good, I would just paint the caps to match them.
I did them myself. As I said the black was already there, I just touched them up after a good cleaning. I then put three coats of gloss clear on them. I might buff them later but I doubt it. Too many other projects. I'm hoping someone will give me the name of a vendor that sells the correct paint for the hubcaps. Hugh
Finished up my hubcaps. In that someone painted the rims the wrong color (gloss black) i could see no reason to attempt to paint the area between the hubcap ribs so I bought a rattle can of off black. At least I have the chrome between the hubcaps covered. First photo shows a painted (left) hubcap and an original (right). Second photo is the completed product. I'm done for now. Hugh
