Just wanted to see what most people used when installing a new temp sending unit to insure a seal. I have heard nothing, as well as a bead of blue gasket maker.....what works best?

I use Permatex 80632 on pipe threads. Any pipe dope for plumbing would work. Start with clean and dry threads. IMHO RTV is not a good choice on pipe threads. mike...
I use Teflon tape on the first three threads only. Teflon isn't a sealer and with the NPT threads you don't need a sealer, you just need the threads to mesh properly.
Teflon tape is a lubricant that will help seat the NPT threads of the sender. Use to much of anything and you could impede the grounding of the sender.
