So I think someone tried adding, removing, modifying parts on my 78 Vette, because there are a hodpodge of equipment and wires not connected to anything. Some of it is part of an alarm system, some I am not sure of. Here is a part I think is alarm, but not sure, it wasn't connected to anything.

I don't have a clue what it is, and I'm sure it's not a factory part.

if you take a picture of the part against a white background, google has a feature that will search the internet for a similar image. Your hand and other things in the image are currently throwing off the search.
I have seen similar device on customs to pop the door latch.S you don't have handles. That is if it had wires going to that solenoid. May have used to pop hood latch.
The sides and back are just black paneling, that's it. The only cable is the one in the picture that went to nowhere, I was think hood release but the hood release mechanism was in place and functioning on both sides. I have found so many things installed on this car that shouldn't have been. I think someone owned this car who had stock in JC Whitney...
It does certainly look like some of the old power trunk solenoids that were cable pulls.
Is there an electrical connector or terminal on it anywhere?
