Gentlemen, I need your advice once again. I've been working to rescue a C3 that was just trashed in every way and being parted out when I determined to save it . As a total rookie to auto mechanics, I've done well these past four years but I now need to have it towed to a shop for some work that I lack the equipment and skills to do. Given the winter season weather here in MA, I believe an enclosed car carrier would be smart rather than using AAA towing as I planned originally. (Car has open hood and exposed wiring and no roof etc. )
Anyone know someone here in MA that would do it ? Also what can I expect to pay ? I've taught guitar classes professionally for 35 yeas so bartering for classes is an option as well if Pickin" is your thing .....
One day , the donor car Will return from Corvette H*#L !
My very best to you and your families for the holidays and new year.
Robert

If the trip is a short one, schedule it on a clear day and use a roll-off tow truck. The cost for an enclosed carrier will be much more than a flat bed, unless you're shipping the car a few hundred miles.

AAA will provide flat bed service if you ask them, open truck to a shop would be fine as long as you don't pick a day that it is raining or snowing.

Arrange with the shop you will be using, they will have a tow service they use. Plan for a good weather day.

For your sake I hope your baby does not turn into a huge money pit. Get estimates first!

Robert, mine will be leaving 'soon' for a long stay at the beauty parlor. You don't say how far your's will be going. Mine, lucky for me, only a few miles, and we'll schedule the move for a 'nice' day. The move will be via flat bed.

PS: Estimates. Use my Father's methodology. Get a good faith estimate (time or money, works both ways). Double it. Then (and this is key) go to the next highest unit. So, if the estimate is $2000, budget $40,000. If the estimate is 3 months, figure 6 years. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Welcome aboard. What part of Mass do you live in? How far are you sending your car?
