My 80 came in at 2750 with an aluminum headed small block. power glide and a 12 bolt 4 link, coilover suspension. stock front suspension and brakes. I did remove the front crash bar behind the front bumper. kept original door panels and dash. no rugs, radio. Installed two race seats, Had a mild steal cage. Kept the power windows and door bars. All original window glass. Im sure if you gut the doors add some lexan and chrome moly cage you could loose another 100 pounds. you could also remove the rear bumper shock/crash absorbers.

I think the '80 was the first year for the lighter (thinner) glass.

Thanks for the update. I did buy a 82 Corvette. I will remove all the weight possible and replace with light weight stuff. This will be be a slow build unless I hit the Jack Pot I will keep up dating when possible. I will have a lot of stuff to sell off this car. I bought a complete car that was sitting for over 5 years. If you Guys are interested in any parts, send me a P.M. I will ship but it will be on your dime.

Thanks Again,

Ron

My 82 weighs 3,560 with a half tank of gas and me in it. This also included a full true dual exhaust so it will add a few more lbs and the spare tire carrier with tire in it along with all the emissions stuff under the hood. I have the weigh slip here somewhere I can post.

I have my 81 down 85lbs, and hope to do more soon. Starting to get REALLY expensive though. I want to keep the stock interior, so chassis weight is dropping.
