I had to take it out by unbolting the halves, removing one half at a time. I took the exhaust off that side. Not fun, but be patient. The alternative is to remove the motor.
It appears my 79 is going to need a new evaporater, looks like quite a project to get to. Any thoughts or insight appreciated.
It looks like a nearly impossible job but the evaporator comes out easily if you follow the shop manual's instructions. I've done it on a small and big block C3 and was surprised how easy it was without removing any other parts.
