The problem with synthetic grease, primarily Mobil I, has nothing to do with the grease. It's the red dye. If allowed to sit for any length of time the dye will separate from the grease. The dye will seep past the seals and leave little red streaks and drops on the garage floor.

The only grease we use when we building the C2 and C3 box is the GM grease pn 12377985. Its what the cars had when new and what we will always use.
