As many of you know, there are two compressor clutch diameters available for early sharks. There has been no definative answer as to which is correct for our cars. I suspect the larger is correct because it costs much more!
I still don't know which one is correct but I opted for the more affordable 5" model as I'm a cheap bast-ard.
I'm happy to report that I've used the compressor now for a couple days and it works just fine. It does not get real hot and cold air streams from my vents just fine (although I'm doing the blower motor swap).
BTW - the parts books list two belt sizes as well. Mine used the longer belt even though the smaller clutch was used.
Thought some of you might want to hear this!
Re: 5" vs 5 3/4" A/C Compressor Clutch Diameter (shoptek)
I was still a little disappointed with the performance so I did the 95 Vette blower motor conversion mentioned in a couple earlier threads tonight. My air now blasts out of the vents!
Do this conversion, it really helps and it's not too difficult.
