I have been checking my secondaries on my vacuum carb, and I did the daub of grease trick and much to my surprise the throttle plates in the secondary are only opening about 1\2 way. I then checked the primarys with my friend holding down the gas pedal to the floor, and they are not perfectly perpendicular to the top of the carb. They look like they are about 75 percent open. Is this normal? seems like I am loosing some ponies by the plates not opening all of the way. Any suggestions on how to adjust the cable from the gas pedal? I am putting a 850dp on next week, and I want to make sure its working right.
That is a common problem wiith the C-3's The arm and or bracket under the dash bends over the years and won't allow the carb to go all of the way open. Just bend it back.. You may need to take the bracketof... They are a little different from year to year, but that's the problem :smash:
Just got back from a run with the vette, I think there must be another 75hp I just found! I adjusted the cable and now the throttle plate is straight up and down, I cant believe the difference in performance, looks like I made a rookie mistake in my hookup. The motor is more responsive and top end is great! Cant wait to put the 850dp on , this thing is going to fly............. :D :D
467...before you do anything, check the gas pedal itself and make sure the screw that goes into the floorboard is tight. Mine was loose and once I tightened it....the problem was fixed.
