Hi...I bought a Stewart Stage II cast aluminum water pump, along with heater core, all hoses, belts, bolts etc. I want to polish out the pump and then clear coat it.
I don't really want it as shiney as the hand polished unit, (which they wanted 100.00 more for). But I would like to polish it out a little. Not sure what to use. I have a Dremel and was thinking of getting a few fine wire brush attachments for it.
Does anybody have any other suggestions?
Thanks

Whooooaaaaa there Jon, I'd be careful with any type of automatic 'tool' - like the Dremel.......if you slip - you'll get swirls on the pump and hafta polish all that mess out....
Just take your time with some fine sandpaper & do it by hand.....the results are slower & you can stop before it gets too "bright"
Believe me - by hand is the best method of quality control +plus if you stick with say 400 grit.... you won't remove too much metal !
Thanks, I agree. I tried the dremal on the hose flange and didn't care for the outcome, left some streaking. I'll give the 400 grit a try.
Appreciate it.
