My wipers stopped working and now my vehicle has failed the roadworthy two weeks ago. Has anyone managed to do a temporary fix in order to pass roadworthy? All the inspector requires is that the wipers work, no need for washer or delay etc. I am running out of time for the grace period.
I am following the thread posted by dpw21562. His dilemma seems similar to mine.
I have tried all the checks I which have found on here on the forum, by Wilcox, Dale Wilson and numerous others but no success yet.
Bench check on motor on the three pins, all good, fast, slow, and park.
Tried Controller bypass, no luck there.
I get 12v to the centre pin on the motor but not sure how to verify the top and bottom are doing the right thing.
Fuse is not blown...if I get 12v at the centre pin it means the juice is getting through the fuse board , right?
Oh also have run a ground wire off the switch casing to chassis in case that screw is not grounding onto the dash, no luck
Black ground wire on motor been checked too it's, ok
If I could just get wipers to go so I can get roadworthy back, then continue later to find where the fault actually is.
Hehe that's funny. Have heard of guys doing this but to see it on video...haha.
A kiddie seat might just fit in the rear so I can carry 3 up to get my wipers working!
If the motor passed the bench test and you really want to just get it working for the quick test... You'll need some wire, terminals and a toggle switch... Run power to the middle terminal (2) on the wiper motor... then run the two grounds (1 and 3) to the toggle switch on the top side run a single ground from the bottom of the toggle switch to ground. Then when he tells you to turn on the wipers flip the toggle and the motor should run. I can draw you a quickie schematic if you need..
Unplug the 123 connector... and jumper the wires as shown below.. that'll get you going for a temporary test. Jump 12 volts to the middle terminal 2, run two wires from 1 and 3 to the inside of your car to a toggle switch. Run a ground from the toggle switch to a ground... and make sure the ground wire on the motor is good.. if not you'll need to run a temp jumper from the motor case to ground.

Brilliant stuff. Thank you so much.
I have done all these checks now....and at last found out what was doing my nut.
The motor was always working when tested with connector unplugged , the test from the switch to the connector when off the motor gave positive results, but when connected up, the motor would not work....UNTIL!
I pushed on the 3 pin connector whilst ignition and wiper switch was on, the motor started.
Turns out the upper ground contact on the 3 pin connector plug to the motor is slightly loose and requires a slight pressure to make full contact.
I think I read earlier somewhere in the forum from one of the knowledgeable experts here...the fault is more likely to be a simple fix..and so it was!!
