Dipstick tubes imo have a one time use. They are a little over sized when new so they fit snugly in the block. You could use a little JB weld if both surfaces are free of oil. I bought a chrome aftermarket tube that even had an o-ring and it worked great.
Since I'm a function-over-form kinda guy I use JB Weld. Holds in there like there's no tomorrow, but it's still (relatively) easy to chip off at rebuild time. Great stuff, JB Weld.
You got that right. I have an irreplaceable broken radiator trim piece on my motorcycle... glued it together with JB years ago. Still strong as can be.
I also used JB Weld. I used it just on the tube itself. Applied, let harden, and sanded. I had to sand it a few times to make it small enough.
It isn't good as new. But it no longer falls out on it's own.
HI Guy's,The new Tube went in pretty firm so I am not going to put nothing on it for now.I will check it out after a few drives and see how it is.Thanks for the help.>STW< Frank
