My driver's side door locking mechanish quit working so I'm thinking i should start working on this project. I've been putting it off -- however I recently found this:
I'm not even sure this will work on a 68 Corvette, but I cannot seem to find a door lock cylinder on the typical vendor sites.
Anybody have any pointers to share?

Reason: clarity
As a 68 owner I believe that will not work.
Look for a used lock cylinder on the forum or at a large corvette event.
Post a wtb in the c3 section.
Once you have a useable cylinder it can be recoded to match the passenger door and the ignition.
The original cylinder one year only housing can be reused.
My drivers side was all corroded and I removed and had a lock smith
clean it up.
The door lock you attached in the post is for a 69 and later.
Hope this helps.

It won't work, I'm sorry.
The door lock on a 68 was built inside the push button. You'll need to remove the push button mechanism and then take it to a locksmith. Any good locksmith can rebuild it... If you can't find one locally that will do it you can send it in to me, I can..

to remove assy after after loosing small nuts on studs push the button in . There are used assy out there I bought a complete door last week for $60 just to get assy.
Let me find the part that fell out and I found at the bottom of the door.... I have it saved somewhere. As far as keeping my 68 "all 68"...well, that ship has sailed

I may have part of a lock in stock but it will be Monday before I can look. I used to have a used lh door lock asm and that piece you have there would be part of it.
and i haven't even gotten inside the door! I'm going to have to put this project on the back-burner and finish my a/c repairs and other projects where I have an idea of what I'm doing.
thanks all....I'll be back when i catch-up; I appreciate all the pointers.

Another unique "bug" of the 68. Can a 69 lock cylinder be installed?
If you install a 69 door you could there are some '68 on E bay don't bitch about cost you own a 68 get used to it
So f***ing hostile lol.. sometimes the cost of owning/fixing a corvette creeps up behind you with a baseball bat & steals your wallet after beating the s**t out of you, & that's for less desirable model years 😂
