In 1977 I bought a new L48 M20 Coupe for $9K. 12 years and 50K miles later I sold it for $11K. If it were for sale today it would probably bring about the same money if it was in similar condition. This demonstrates that plain Jane C3s that were pumped out by the hundreds of thousands have zero to none investment potential under the economic conditions we've lived under for the last decade.

Why, you ask was I able to make a profit back then but not in the recent past as Motorhead laments? Blame Mr Carter. His presidency brought +/- 20% inflation and the prices of all cars and everything else skyrocketed. Now we have an opportunity to revisit those bad old days. Maybe C3s will become an investment.

Just recently I was at the Mecum auction in Kissimmee Fl, either 74 or 75 silver Corvette convertible manual 350 sold for $28,000. I was pleasantly surprised at the price. I believe it was a 40k mile car. Granted , this car was super clean with the hard top.

The problem is say 9k in 77 would buy something money is sort of worthless today, try to buy a new base corvette today and see what it costs. So if you do buy an older vette and think it has went up in value, not really.

I understand they made a **** load of c3 corvette's. Every time I go to a car meet or show, there is 6+ c3's maybe 0-1 is a 68-73 and maybe 0-1 is a roadster.
But as for me, Buying the car for $6300, bumper and chin spoiler for $800 shipped, clutch kit for around $250 And painting the bumpers $600-1000 ( I'm just going to install them my self) and a few odds and ends, for now I'll be in the car for under $10k. I would hope if I sold the car this summer ( I have 0 plans of doing that ) I could get a little More then $10k. But maybe not! Lol

Anyway it will be a fun summer cruiser!!
