I am looking for set of spark plug wires and I am holding off purchasing until I hear from the Corvette Forum. The set of spark plug wire boots on the car are heat damaged because of the missing heat shields. Has anyone had good luck with the set that they have? Can you recommend a specific brand? Thanks in advance.
When I work on Corvettes like yours...I use the A/C Delco wires. No need in doing anything fancy if the engine is stock.
KEEP IN MIND that I CORRECTLY route the wires as designed!
If you do not plan on installing the heat shields by the spark plugs.....then I would advise...if the heat issue keeps damaging your spark plug wires is to get some of the spark plug wire boots that aid in keeping heat off the end by the plug.
When I install spark plug wires on the Corvettes where the plug wires route THROUGH the engine mounts. I CAREFULLY take one of my small jeweler screwdrivers and slide it between the plug wire and the rubber boot AT the spark plug end and go all the way around the wire so I break the seal of the boot. I pull off the boot....this way I can push the wire where I want ti and NOT have to mess with the motor mount. And with the boot end off the wire...it will go though the area of the motor mount just like it need to...and then ..simply apply a very small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the boot so the wire will slide easily and slide it back on.
