I want to tame down my 533 Gen6 with cast timing cover 1970. I have a smaller hyd roller in the shed ready to go.
How hard is this to do with the engine in the car. Obviously hood off, radiator out, setup on TDC etc.
Can I leave the sump on and just get the cast timing cover off. I think I put silicon sealant between 1 piece sump gasket and the timing cover after leaks in the past.

I was wondering about doing this also, so I am watching.
I lived in Perth for a couple of years and spent some time up in the Pilbara and Katherine. Love WA and the NT! Cheers.

To make life easier I would just pull the engine to be honest. Then you can give everything a once over before it goes back in. By the time you finish fighting the limited space you could have the entire engine out.
Or you can just lift the engine partially to get easier access. It sounds harder but it's the better option.
I don't think its that hard. At one time or another I've removed everything you need to remove for a cam change except the cam itself. My garage ceiling isn't high enough for an engine hoist...sometimes you have to make do with what you have!!
