Default Need carb tuning confirmation!!!

I just adjusted the quadrajet rich/lean fuel mixture. Prior to the adjustment the car would start right away and run at higher rpms until it warmed up. Once warm the rpms would kick down. I thought this may indicate that the car was running rich??? So I adjusted it slightly to the lean side. The car then had a tough time starting and would not idle well at cold temps. Should I go back to where I was or should I go a little richer with it??? Thanks for the help.

There is a fast idle cam on the passenger side of the carb that keeps the idle higher when the choke is on. You cannot adjust the mixture until the engine is warmed up and the choke it open completely. Various years are adjusted alittle different. Check out http://www.corvettefaq.com for lars Q-jet tuning tips.

There is a rpm spec for the fast idle and an adjustment for it. Most of us set it to our own liking depending on climate.
