Pulled the engine out today.
The clutch went "south" on Friday with only 18k on it and not abused. Since I have a set of WP heads and XE268 cam my son and I went out to the garage and pulled the motor out. It took us about 5-6 hours to get everything out. The clutch doesn't look bad but I don't have any specs on the thickness of the disc. When we lifted the engine the drivers side motor mount dropped to the floor. The rubber was sheared in half, I know why the new headers have a dipple in them now :mad
Tomorrow I'll drop the tranny and take a look in the side cover for sycro wear. Never ending saga :lol:

Do you think the motor mount had anything to do with the premature failure of the clutch? Maybe it cocked the engine just enought to throw things out of whack. Just a thought.

SD-No I don't think the mount was the cause of the clutch. I installed new bushings on the Hurst shifter this week. I test drove the car without the boots in the console. I was able to look at the tranny while driving. I notice the tranny torqued to the right when starting off. The engine,bellhousing, and tranny all moved together. the clutch started pop when I pressed on the pedal, every so often at first but almost every time while driving yesterday.
