Can the rear wheel bearing be changed in the c3 1973 while still in car? If not is there a link on showing steps to take to remove?
First post - welcome!
The rear bearings require some special tools to properly setup.
They're not like popping new bearings on the front spindle.
I would not try to do this on the car.
A decent option for reasonable money is a rebuild service from one of the vendors on this site. Here's one of many options. http://www.vansteel.com/index.cfm?fu...&SubGroup=1809

They can be changed on the car, and if you are mechanically inclined, it's not that big of a deal. Special tools MAY be required. I think you can even rent them if needed, or ask on the forum if someone near you has them to loan.
Rather than take the trailing arm off and take/send it in to be rebuilt, I rebuilt mine on the car. I've done a few different jobs that some of the members here claim that you need to send to the shop.
Like I said, if you are mechanically inclined and have mechanic's tools, why not try it your self? You could always send it in later if it doesn't work out.

I wouldn't send in the whole trailing arm for the bearing job; just the bearing carrier assembly, which can be done with only mechanic's tools.
Here's the part I received from V-Tech Corvette in Rockford, IL just yesterday. I'll be installing it this weekend.
I rebuilt a trailing arm and I will tell you that I have been a mechanic all of my professional life and I am 53. you need special tools, a spindle knocker at the very least. A spindle puller if you can rent one. This is just to get the spindle off. There is another mandatory special tool that you will need and this is the rear spindle set up tool. You will need a shim kit. When replacing the bearings the new bearings must fully seat into place because if not they will seat into place after you have performed the installation and you will have to disassemble the spindle and re shim all over again. Ask me I know.
You may want to do this job, you may not. I would recommend sending off the entire trailing arm to a rebuilder.
