Default Changing fuel pump line question - 1970

Attempting to switch over to steel fuel from rubber. There is a continuous flow of fuel coming out. Is this normal? Was thinking pump diaphragm would stop it? Guess I need to plug the line from the tank. Any help appreciated. Wifey doesn't like garage filled with gas...

Thanks

Shawn

Default Vice Grips

Use a vice grip and clamp it on the rubber fuel line back at the fuel tank.

That will stop to flow of gas from the tank.

From the Fuel Pump to carb. I didn't crimp the back main line(tank is full and line is old). Instead I took off the "S" hose from main line, connected a new 3/8 fuel hose, and inserted a spark plug/clamp to stop fuel flow. I will order a new "S" hose and fuel pump elbow fitting to make all this work.

Thx

Do you have the filler cap off the tank? It's non-vented on a 70. If you leave it on, fuel will flow almost continuously.

In addition, crimp the line as stated.
