I have a 1977 4 speed 350. I was told today at a corvette shop I needed a harmonic balancer. Can someone give me a ball park price for doing this. I just want to know what to plan for. The only thing I notice is my tachometer fluctuates between 800 and 600 when idling. When they tried to do the timing today they told me the balancer had spun. Thanks
Have you considered the alternative like changing it your self? It is an easy job. You go to the cheap tool place and buy a damper R&R kit and a set of deep 1/2 inch sockets and a 1/2 inch breaker bar.
Watch a Youtube video on how to do it.
Loosen up some belts, remove the damper pulley, remove the damper center bolt, bolt on the remover tool, remove the damper, install a new higher quality light weight damper. Like a fluid damper or ATI
Instead of paying labor you learn something and acquire tools
Between $200 and $250 is a fair price for the entire job. You may want to change all your belts since they are coming off anyway. The labor chance should stay the same and only the price of the belts should be added.
