Upper windshield molding (UWM)
I am doing a 1979 convertible convertion. I had a hard time finding the differences between the L1968-1976 and the 1976-1982 UWM. I called a few vendors and was told the only difference was the early one was not painted black. But, my molding just wouldn't fit snug up to the windshield convertible header plate. I saw many posts say there was a gap from the factory or the windshield is thinner than original or all kinds of answers.
I finally found this:

The earlyer UWM has slots in the mounting area. Got an earlyer UWM and it now fits right up against the top plate and looks perfect.
I hope this helps out someone, cause I waisted a lot of time on this one piece.

I am talking about the thin windshield reveal molding tha goes acrross the top of the windshield and goes in the windshield clips. It should fit right up against the stainless piece that sits on the actual windshield medal Frame
