Default Manual door locks reversed?

I just bought a 1980 Corvette with Electric windows but manual locks. The Driver Lock and Passenger lock work in the opposite direction. To lock the Driver's door while inside, you must "PULL" the lock up and away from where it goes into the armrest. On the Passenger side, you have to "PUSH" it in to Lock it. This doesn't seem correct. I have had the trim panel off and the linkages seem to be connected properly. Is it supposed to behave like this? If not any thoughts on how this could happen? I think they should both lock when you PUSH them in.

Yes, suspected that. Which way are they supposed to work, and does anyone know how that might be done? (while the linkages still appear to be correct?

Both should push into the arm rest to lock. Someone put it back together wrong. The AIM has diagrams showing the proper linkage attachments

AIM.. Is that a manual of some sort? I just got the GM Service manual for it, but the pics are not good enough.

Assembly Instruction Manual. They are available through several vendors. One of the members may even be able to copy a page to you.

The AIM is a very useful tool to have for working on these cars.

Solved and fixed! Someone had reversed the lower linkage connections. All good now! On the the next improvement to be made!
