I would like to remove a/c. Whould a 197? stock no a/c car cover which I have access to work the same asd a/c delete cover? And one more question can I take it all out with motor in car? t Thanks for any info.
I put in an ac delete and the only issue is finding a spot to put the original heater fan resistor in.
If you only drive your car in far weather why not do a AC/Heat delete ? You get ride of alot of excess weight and gain a lot more space on your passenger side of your engine bay. I did this to my 73 recently and was able to find a shop in New Mexico
,off E- Bay, that makes a awesome CNC machined plate that bolts right in. All I did was have it powder coated prior to install.
If you are keeping your stock AC heater core you can't use the cover from a NON AC car
If you are removing your AC heater core you can cover the hole with that metal plate that can be purchased on Ebay for around $50.00
If you want heat... the AC Delete cover is the best option. It looks the most factory... the fan blower motor bolts right up to it and it fits perfectly.
I just did this on my 1977 AC car. I removed all the AC components from under the hood but I left the AC heater core intact in the car. I bought the AC Delete cover and it fit perfectly with no modifications.
I transferred the fan motor's metal reinforcing ring and used some silicone to bond it into the housing just to cut any sound vibration. Play with the position of the motor and ring until you are happy then mount. I also transferred the fan air cooling intake pipe to the cover. Drill undersize holes and then use a cone to open to size if you are not sure of the fit, keep a shop vacuum running to suck up the dust.
I made a cardboard copy of the cover - as received. Use a good thick cardboard. I had to add a small patch / extension on one corner with some fiberglass cloth and resin. Trace the holes for the screws to the cardboard. You can enlarge the cardboard holes and then use tape to zero in on the hole location on the cardboard. BE SURE TO MARK THE CARDBOARD INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. (facing rear / front ) . Trace the holes and test fit the cover, Sand if necessary / fill if necessary to get a fit you are happy with. I used strip gum / gunk - some people use black silicone on the lip. I used fender washers in SS on the cover with the screws - painted black. Mount the cover and snug it down - not tight. Then the next morning you can tighten it down to where you are happy with it. I then put the strip gunk around the perimeter to look stock.
Most auto stores have the strip gunk in rolls for a few bucks. Use rubber gloves - the warmer it gets the sticker it gets.

Took all the a/c stuff out today. Almost had a temper tantrum. Got it all off, but what a bitch, and I do not mean maybe!!! Ended up cutting 2 pipes, fittings were jammed solid bummed about that. Also had to split box to get it out. I don't know how many bolts and screws but there always seemed to be one more you can't see. Screwed around about 8 hours on it, but it's ALL GONE. Pretty frustrating job overall. Don't know if I'd do it again.

I had to do the same thing. I only had to cut one pipe though. It was the aluminum one that was near the radiator. I tried everything to loosen that fitting with no luck so I had to cut it.
It took me just about all day but after cleaning everything up and installing the AC delete cover it was SO worth it. Engine compartment is so much cleaner now.
