Default 73 front bumper replacement

The original front bumper has cracked all the way thru at one spot so it is time for a replacement. Based upon what I have read on the forum, I will go with a Tru-Flex. I will have a body shop do the work. Questions
1) any tips/suggestions to tell the body shop?
2) what vendors did you get your True-Flex bumper from?
3) what parts (lights, grills, emblems etc.) have to be removed to replace the bumper? I am looking at doing this work to save a few bucks and make sure the original equipment is not damaged
4) what other parts are needed?
Thanks.

I bought mine from Wilcox here on the forum. It was made by Toledo Pro.
The fit was close but I did need to do some fitting. After the install I could see where the fiberglass was sitting on the steel beam under the skin causing some areas to pop. I removed the beam and all has been good now for several years. I think the beam was there to support the original urethane bumper skin.

You are correct!

As far as what you'll need.... You should get the retainer kit for the flexy bumpers, the link for that kit is embedded on the bumper link below. These retainers are different than the original style retainers and them make putting the bumper on much easier. You'll need to remove the grilles from the old bumper too.

No bumper will fit the car perfect and I made this comment a few weeks ago that these cars we drive are like snowflakes, no two are alike. I've had two cars in the shop that used the same bumper and had it fit one car and not the other.

Willcox,
I noted that the bumper cover has the license plate area filled in. I have the center grill as my state does not require a front license plate. Is this easy to cutout/remove? I have see other covers with this piece already removed. Thanks.

You need to wait for Willcox to reply, but I got my bumper from them
for my 73 and it didn't have that center license part.
This is what mine looked like when I got it.

I don't have a photo of mine before I installed it, but I
have these of after the fitting and installed. Note, I had
only one area that needed work and it wasn't hard to fit
that.

The front license plate area is pre-cut... I'll have to fix that picture.

On cars that used a license plate there would have been a bracket that bolted in there for the plate to mount to.

Bumper and retainer kit ordered from Willcox.
I will remove old one and body shop will fit, paint and install new one.
Thanks all.
