Anyone knowledgeable about interior dye--spray or wipe on over plastic and vinyl interior parts? I replacing some panels that come unpainted and want to match the rest of the interior. I'm thinking the best way is to paint (dye) everything for best match. On other threads I'm picking up good info to dye carpet with regular RIT dye. My main concern remains the vinyl and plastic parts. I read where there is wipe on and spray dye--have no clue which application is better. Would appreciate some input on this please.
I got my supplies from Ecklers. There is a cleaner, a primer and then the dye itself ( all spray cans), and they match it to factory colors. Then I put a semi gloss clear on top of it. It turned out great when I rebuilt my steering column and I plan on doing all of the other plastic trim the same way.
I got mine from corvette america and was very pleased! 4 steps in aerosol spray cans. 1 Surface prep which is basically alcohol, 2 adhesion promoter, 3 the dye, 4 clear coat. I have a rare dark green interior and it matched perfect. Its for plastics, vinyl, leather but found also great on small metal parts as well. Spendy but worth every penny.

Did the same thing for my '81 with the 'tan' or 'camel' interior. Turned out great! but I did everything at one time so it all matched. I also just got new carpet, wasn't really that expensive and it replaced the old stuff that was showing its age.
