Default Another SAQ.....

To any and all C3 Forum Gurus...

Many of my Vette clubs C3 owners are suggesting that I use 8.5 mm plug wires instead of the 8 mm ones...

Any possible advantage to their suggestions???

Your advantage will be ignoring their bad advice

Most often the difference between say an 8mm wire and a 9mm wire fron the same manufacturer is just the insulation is thicker, the wire itself inside is the same. Absolutely no gain whatsoever in performance.

The thicker wires are used in racing and street applications because they provide more protection from hot parts and provide better protection for abrasion.

Now I did say "most of the time" but not always as some wires may have some kind of extra material around the inner wire for EMI/RFI suppression.

Did you ask them why ? If someone told me I need this or that for my Vette the first question I would have is "why"

Absolutely no need. Just go for QUALITY magnetic suppression wires.

Also important is the style...either pre terminated, or make your own custom lengths.
