Default Steering wheel change.

I removed and dyed my steering wheel. It was a while back. DIdn't work, no adherance. Purchased as black one. I tried to change it out but wheel wont come off. I tried gear puller but could'nt get a grasp....ideas??? Is there a trick IM missing? Came right off first time.

Is your's one of those that has to have the little c-clip ring removed to slide it off the spline?

No, the more I think of it the clip would still be behind the wheel. Should be just the nut and then pull off the spline.

Might need a bit of a tap to get it to let go of the spline, even with the puller applying some pressure

Gear puller wouldnt fit on the wheel. Guess Ill dye it and use a cover as the dye wont stay on a steering wheel.

Can't you just remove the 6 screws holding it to the hub to take it off?

There are only a few C3 Corvettes that have hubs that are a permanent part of the steering wheel itself. I suspect that you must have a 1976 T&T column or a 1976 thru 1979 standard column.

This isn't a picture of a Corvette steering wheel but it does show a strg wheel with an integral hub that is molded to it. You just need a puller that has the proper bolts that match the threads in the two tapped holes in the hub.
