So I'm replacing my compressor, accumulator and hose assembly to change to 134a. I've flushed the evaporator and condenser.
I know the compressor wants 6oz pag 150, but what about the evaporator and accumulator? How much will those take? Can/do they get oiled before assembly?
I bought a 8oz bottle of oil. Can I use that up and use a can of oil charge before charging the system to lube the compressor? Or just buy another bottle and spread it out?
Thanks, Bob
PS, What is the up grade size orifice tube?
Token pic cuz we like pics!

Reason: left out information
The system only requires 6 ounces total. When the refrigerant is introduced into the system the oil foams like crazy and goes all the way thru the system. Once the oil and refrigerant are in the system the refrigerant is an oily gas and it's that oily gas that lubes the compressor. Have you ever poured salt on a snail or slug and watched it turn into foam? That's what happens in an A/C system.
Read the instructions with the new comp, like how much oil if any it has already. Then shoot for the total in the system. Sometimes we drain the comp to see whats already inside.
Don't overfill or else cooling will be reduced.

Thanks for the quick responses guy's.
Mountainoakie - your explanation on how the oil foams up and that the label on the compressor refers to total system capacity was spot on!
Mikem350 - When I read the instructions, they were kind of vague and general on what kind and how much oil to use. They included a list of applications and part numbers for the oil. They did say not to put too much in.
The service manual I have spoke of how each component should have, if it were replaced. So I wasn't sure if I should total all that and put that much in.
I see that would have been a big mistake!
Thanks fella's
