That seems very expensive... Once I inqured about shipping an engine 3500+ miles from Miami to Oregon and I got quoted $350.... $600 seems awful expensive... Get some more quotes...

Re: Cheapest way to ship an engine? (ruskus)
I had an engine (block and heads, no intake manifold) shipped from Texas to New Jersey for $200.
The trick was to have the engine deliverd to and picked up from the trucking company depot. If they have to come pick it up and then deliver it (to/from a residence) they charge a handsome premium.
If I remember correctly, they wanted and extra $140 to deliver it to my house. I borrowed a van and picked it up myself.
I paid US$300 from Eastern Canada to California plus a $100 packing charge. Loading dock to a car dealer with a forklift that could off load the engine. Weight about 700 pounds. I thought the price was fair.

You might want to try Greyhound Bus. They were the best deal to get my daughter's stuff from LA to the Chicago area. Not sure, but they might have weight limitations. Good idea about posting in truck stops. Those drivers most likely just pocket the cash.

Thanks. Called this AM. They don't ship to/from the east coast. Midwest/Texas/West Coast. I'll keep looking.
