My 5-year-old daughter found a broken piece from the top shock mount laying on the driveway yesterday. Couple that with the crappy handling my car has, I'm thinking it's time to buy new front shocks.
I have a 72 convertible, small block with the AC removed. I'm not sure what's currently installed for the front suspension, but I know I have a composite leaf in the rear. I'm looking to install stock front shocks... not performance parts. I'm not looking to race my car, I just want a high quality shock that will do me solid while I'm going out for a weekend cruise.
In another thread, KYB2s, Bilsteins HD, and Edelbrocks were mentioned as quality brands. But I still want to be sure I'm ordering the right parts. Are any of these the right ones?
They all look correct to me - I have KYB's and have been happy with them, if you just want a "stock" ride Monroes from the local parts store will work. I had those for years and had no issues.
Happy Motoring -
Frank

I have the exact same car as you. I put the AC Delco on mine and it made a great improvement. You can get them at Rock Auto for $23 each plus shipping.
Thanks for the help guys. I checked out Rock Auto and saw that the Monroe OESpectrum shocks were considered in line with stock. I wound up picking up a set for the front and back from Advance Auto Parts with a nice 30% off coupon code. I installed the front set today and there is a noticeable difference. The front shocks were completely worn out.
