Before I buy a BowTie, has anyone modified the stock crossmember to fit a 2004r tranny ? Pics or what has to be done.

When I did my 81 years ago, I removed the mounting bracket and made a new one to move the bolts 2 1/2 inches rearward to fit the new mount, ,then rewelded it together . .. But , thats on a 700r4.. I think the 200r4 s mount is about 5-6 inches farther back than a TH350.. Also, the pully bracket for Park Brake cable needs to be moved over 1 inch toward driver side

To put a 200R4 in your C3 all you need to do is remove that bracket that FIshslayer talks about. That is it. The 200R4 will bolt right in and you don't need to do anything to the driveshaft. There are other things to do, but physically it is a drop in.

Well, I don't know about the '80, but on my '79 with the TH350, all I had to do was remove the bolt-on mount for the rear of the TH350 from the cross member and the 2004r bolted into the two holes in the middle of the stock cross member and done. Same location on the frame too.

That's all I needed to do, remove the bracket. Even though the '80 has a welded in crossmember the dimensions have to be the same as the bolt in.
