I was checkiing my timing today after reinstalling my intake and after setting my initial to 12 I found my total at 3000rpm was reading about 54!:U
Now I bought a good digital adjustable light with the hopes that it would work good. Of course it wasn't untill AFTER I bought it did I find out that they sometimes dont work with MSD units:mad:
So now I have no idea what my timing is and I need to set it:cry:
Is there anyone nearby with a good old fashioned dumb timing light I can borrow?
I NEED to go to Brainard on tuesday for a drivers school! ( where's the crack addict smiley? )

Yeah, dontcha love it. :smash: This is off MSD's Web Troubleshooting Page:
Timing Fluctuations
If your timing seems to be jumping all over the place, check the following items:
-----What kind of timing light are you using? Many lights have trouble reading the MSD's capacitive discharge multiple sparks. Dial back timing lights are not recommended. Try another non-adjustable light and check the timing again. MSD offers a Timing Light, PN 8990.
Yeah, like I'm gonna walk over to my Timing Light Storage Cabinet and pull out another light to try  . I believe in reading the instructions, but in their case you'd better read em before you buy. :smash:
Re: timing lights and MSD rant (Chris@VetteFinders)
I don't know what my timing is due to the F-d up light not due to the lack of timing marks. ( It has marks all the way 'round)
I'd suggest buying a timing tape for your harmonic.

You mean I'm not the only one who doesn't have three of each tool and gauge available so you can do a cross check? :jester:

Very Funny!
Actually I bought the light before the MSD and it is quite old, oh well...
So whats your problem doesn`t EVERYBODY run 50+ degrees?????????
.gotcha!! try to return it and get a Flaming River light ($45) they work great and you only have to deal with one wire to #1

I know this isn't exactly 100% on topic, but have a look at this thread on the NCRS tech board. I found it rather interesting regarding MSD ignitions. http://www.ncrs.org/forum/tech.cgi?read=59371
Particularly read Duke Williams reply to the original thread. The man knows his stuff.
