Default Automatic Adjusting A/C Orifice Tube

It's starting to get as hot as Hades here and I have a leak in my A/C system. I figured I might give one of these automatic adjusting orifice tubes a try when I get the system up and running. I used the factory type standard orifice tube when I got my new system going last year. My car is black which doesn't help. I have insulated the cockpit from heat. Sealed up all my holes in the firewall. I also added the late model blower fan modification. Etc etc.

My question is...Who is using one of these automatic adjusting orifice tubes and what difference did you notice from the standard fixed orifice tube after installing it?

I am not talking about the blue Ford orifice tube here.

I want this bitch to freeze me out!

I don t think you will find any difference in temp.. Have you cleaned the debris out of the core housing ? Heavier ground wire to Blower? Rubber seal at rear of hood?

the VOV will likely help in stop and go traffic, but ultimately it won't get any colder. do you have the proper size orifice tube in there now? the VOV will, when fully open, be the same size as a fixed tube.

it certainly wouldn't hurt to put one in there, but you're going to be replacing the refrigerant, and drier as well as the tube, so for the cost, it'd be cheaper to buy a block of dry ice and stick it in a cooler on the passenger floor...(seen it done before!)

I have the factory type orifice tube in place now. I have a leak and the system has bled down. So I need a new accumulator and a charge anyway. Just thought this would be the time to change it if I'm going to do it.
