LF steering wheel removal walkthrough
I bought my first 1969 C3 this past week and immediately noticed the steering wheel was way too big for my non-tilt steering column combined with my legs. Getting in and out is an absolute bear so I immediately looked into a smaller steering wheel as a replacement. I have been looking pretty exhaustively for a walkthrough on how to take the original steering wheel off to put the new one on.
I can get it done, I'm confident of that... I just need the direction. Thanks for any help.

Jim Shea did an awesome paper on this, http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/wp-co...ev13my2010.pdf. There are also some YouTube videos that could help.
Any tools you don't have, check if the local parts store will loan them to you, as you may never need them again. Also, make sure the wheels are straight ahead, so when the new one goes on, it is centered.
I his may seem a little intimidating, but you will have lots of help here.

I installed a MOMO wheel on my '73 Corvette, non-tilt column back in the 80's. All it called for was a wheel and an adapter and bolted right on.
Jegs carries a wide variety of MOMO wheels in 13"-14" diameter.

I also installed a Personal wheel on my 1969 Boss302 in the 70's for similar reasons. Personal carries a variety of similar wheels that only require the wheel and an adapter.
