Default AC help needed

I am in the process of putting the AC back into my '70 big block, before the engine goes back in. Today I put the evaporator back in its housing, still capped off. I also put in the new heater core, and all needs to be put back into the car.

My questions are what are the differences between the small block main compressor hose and the one for a big block? The previous owner ordered a small block on and this is a big block car.

Should I get the POA update kit for R134a or I read some where I can have the POA redone to be 134a compatible? Do I still need the expansion valve?

Since I'm not a AC guy, should I make the connections to the evaporator and other parts, capping off the other parts or leave that for a technician? I figure leave the connection off for the dryer (not opening it to atmosphere till ready for charge).

Anyone have a picture of the hardware to attach the evaporator housing to the internal heater core housing?
