I am thinking about changing my plug wires tomorrow. I plan to route them under per factory installation. How bad of a job is that?
What do you think of the universal sets (like Acel)? That would make routing them easier wouldn't it? Do the ends that you have to install end up being OK?
There was a fairly recent thread on this that may have some helpful info.
FWIW, I went with the make-your-own wire set and was very pleased (Acell 8mm). Routing is a bit of a pain with all of the heat shielding in place. Also the front four wires are routed through the motor mounts. I did the job while my car was up on jack stands for other work. The exhaust was off too. That made things A LOT easier, but I still removed the starter and shielding to make more room to work and it was still a pain.
As far as procedure, I cut the wire to length, put both contacts on each end, put the spark plug boot on, then fed the wire back to the distributor where I put the dist boot on. That seemed the easiest way to me.
