Default Glove box door latch/lock

The glove box latch on my '79 rattles. How do I remove the latch? Am I likely to need to replace it or is there something I can do to control the rattling?

Can you adjust the latch bar to make the door close tighter?

Look at the male piece of the latch attached at the glove box. It adjusts.

Its not the door that's rattling. Its the latch assembly itself. It will do it whether the door is closed or open. I need to remove the latch from the door and disassemble it to figure out what is loose. There are four screws on the back of the door which I have not tried removing yet. It looks to me like once they are out it will separate the back of the door from the front, but the latch will prevent the two pieces from coming apart because the hole in the back of the door is not large enough for the latch assembly to go through. I was hoping someone here had some experience doing this and could point me in the right direction.

.Open glove box..put latch in closed position..Look at lower right side of latch mech and peer into the hole ..There's a pin detent inside that you push in with a paper clip while you pull downward on the exterior of the latch where the key fits..You have to push the pin in stages several times and then the exterior of the latch comes off. Then tighten the threaded ring from the outside until the latch is snug and properly oriented. There's several good videos on you tube that are helpful..Jim
