Did this earlier today on the 502. It just makes you feel like a little kid. I couldn't believe how good it sounded like that vs going through my 2" exhaust. I need to remember to do this next time I am in a bad mood.
Re: Yowza! Open headers make you smile. (8T1-7T9 BIONIC VETTE)
Cappy, we are having a track night Saturday night (tonight). You need to leave the car show and make a few runs with us! Scott, Norris, Wendell (hopefully), me, and you would make a great showing! You at least need to come by to hear my car with open headers, promise it will make you smile. :D
Nunus79, I don't think you will need any tools. Don't forget the small fact that I don't know how to drive that beast yet. I think you all will have your way with me. On an unrelated note......Scott ran 4 12.9's with a redlight, a .5xx, .6xx, and a .7xx Good Luck!
Scott is on top of his game right now, Should be a great night......Maybe it isn't Scott you should be shooting for, it is Cappy
Cappy, the slicks will be waiting! I plan on leaving to go out there around 5:45 if you can be here before that, if not, I will leave my garage open for you so you can get what you need.
Now I've just installed headers on my '79 Vette. This weekend when I go to the track I think I'm gonna try to open the headers. How hard is this job? Now my new true dual exhaust system goes through those holes in the frame. Will I still have room to roll the exhaust outta the way or is it a bigger job that won't gain me that much more time to prove its worth. I went 14.40 at 96 mph last time out. Gonna try playing with the timing light and maybe the open headers will get me down a bit more.
I actually got to do this on Christmas Eve last year. Okay, it wasn't open headers but it was open exhaust. I had just installed true dual exhaust on the vette and was trying to find someplace that would install the mufflers since I've never welded nor do I have the equipment. Anyway, one of the shops said they would do it on Christmas Eve. So I drove over there and he installed my exhaust, and I paid him a little extra. I've taken all exhaust work (other vehicles) to him since and have recommended numerous friends to him. But the whole point of this babbling is that I got to drive my vette about 15 miles with open exhaust on Christmas Eve. Kind of like an early Christmas present to me. :D :D :D :D :D :D
