Think my driver side power door lock switch is gone. I can lock but not unlock. Can use the passenger side to unlock, and the auto lock/unlock of the radar detector works. So, need to replace switch. How do I get it off. Do I have to take door panel off or is it held in place by some sort of press it action.
Before you run off and buy new switches do yourself a favor and clean all the contacts first then see if they work again.
The first thing you want to do is DISCONNECT the battery! Take off the door panel and the switch is connected to a wring harness, clean the contacts then plug the switch back in, hook up the battery and try the switch. If cleaning the contacts doesn't work then you'll probably have to get a new one. Over time moisture will corrode the contacts, I know as I bought ALL new switches then my buddy cleaned the contacts and tried the old ones....they worked and I had 2 of everything
yes,
Definetly disconnect the batt cable! My door lock swicth on the drivers side was almost siezed, so I disconnected it and removed it. I didn't disconnect the battery first, and immediately my dash lights all quit.
