Default Which exhaust clamps?

I have to cut my welded-in exhaust to get the cross member out. I've been looking at butt joint clamps. Are these effective and which ones would everyone suggest?
Thanks.

There are a couple easy ways about rejoining the pipes. One is a splice pipe, which is just a pipe with the ID the same diameter as the OD of the pipes you wish to splice. It takes two clamps per pipe, so you'd be looking at two splices and four clamps. Not very pretty, but very functional. You can get all these parts at your local auto parts supplier and they are so common they should be in stock.

The second is a band clamp. This is just a strap of steel that wraps and clamps around the pipe joint to effect the joining and sealing. The clamp is integral with the strap, so nothing extra to buy. They come in specific pipe diameters for splicing same size pipes as well as offsets for mating different pipe sizes. It's only slightly prettier than the above splice but just as functional.

I am not sure but I think there may be a pipe expander that you could use to spread one side of the cut end and slip the other pipe into it and clamp it. Maybe a local muffler shop could help out if you brought the pipes down to them.

If you're talking about the butt-joint flared-end connectors as below, yes they are great. Easy separation. I don't know the correct terminology but recommend them unequivocally. They are welded in so unless you can do this yourself, you'll have to visit a muffler shop, probably with the connectors in hand. And to get a proper seal, they need to be welded with the pipes installed in place.

I cut a section of my pipes to allow easy removal of transmission. I used the Summit band clamps to connect the butt joints. Here is a link...
