Ok guys I'm having trouble my 73 turn signal fuse would blow after 6-8 blinks when first turned on only the left side blows the fuse the right side blinks as long as you leave it on so after tracing all the lh lamps that blink there are no shorts found. I consulted a couple master techs and they both agree the turn signal switch is bad or has a chafed wire inside the column.I said all that to ask how do I get the ignition barrel cylinder out so I can take the top part of the column off in order to make replacing the turn signal switch easier.I'm stuck being unable to find the lock tab as I saw in another thread regarding how to replace the ignition lock cylinder which is holding the top part of the column on

You don't need to remove the ignition cylinder to replace the turn signal switch. Here is a write up I did on how to get the turn signal switch out. It will walk you through the process from start to finish.
OML wished I had read this like yesterday but Thanks all the same. now I will route my new turn signal switch and pray I can get the upper column back together correctly I did discover however the window that had to be punched out in my column in order to access the release tab on my original lock cylinder
here is the ignition window I had to punch out to get to the ignition lock release tab
