I'm trying to find the cfm rating for the QFT Q series carb that came on the NOM 454 in my 68 convert. I tried to get info from the PO- no luck. QFT tech services said there is a model number on the bottom of the carb. There is no number- only "Patent pending" in the casting and the QFT nameplate on the top of the fuel bowls. The diameter of all four barrels, measured at the butterfly is 1.784 inches. Does someone have a tech sheet that has specs that might help ? Or.... a Holley spec sheet? The QFT looks like a Holley clone and might have the same specs. I think it is either a 750 or 850 cfm.

The SS model has a choke. This is a Q series. No choke, mechanical secondaries, double pumper. I found specs for some other models which show everything 850 cfm or greater has 1 3/4 inch throttle bores- 850, 950 1050, etc all have the same bore, so I'm not sure what I have. There are no model numbers anywhere on the carb to help ID it, So it is at least an 850 cfm, maybe bigger. The engine goes like hell, so maybe I should not worry about it.
I agree with this. Looks like the choke was removed. Still has the air horn for the choke in the main body. If it were a q series it would not. Air bleeds. Squirters and Jets will tell which one.

Go to the Quickfuel site for specs of each.

" Looks like the choke was removed". Good observation. I'm sitting with the carb right in front of me and it did not register that was what happened- all I saw was "no choke". Looks like it is a SS-850, based on the throttle plate size. QFT has some parts for the electric choke, but so far I have not found everything needed to add a complete choke to the carb. Would like to have one for colder weather start-up.
Thanks for the help jogging my failing memory banks. RA
OK I was wrong. It's behind the rear meeting plate.
What a lovely, convenient place to put the model number! You have to take the carb apart to find it. I note the Proform on the casting. Does QFT manufacture their carbs using other vendors parts? This is the first QFT product I have had and my first impression was that it is a Holley clone. Nearly every part looks the same as the corresponding part on a Holley. Any info on the QFT corporate history?
