I want to change my hood for one with a higher center piece. (78 L-82), I just want to try some other intake/carb combos and need the added clearance. What year hood would do that for me or what other years would fit but I could have the hood modified to give the added clearance.

Are you saying you desire a scoop? no stock c3 hood really has a world of space for taller induction set ups.
adding a scoop to your hood would assure it all fits as well as it does now plus you can use any fiberglass scoop you desire, OR get a second hood and cut it and play with scoops.

None. You'll have to go aftermarket for the additional rise, or modify your existing hood. Once upon a time, Eckler's had a stock appearance high rise hood which used stock hardware.
funny my uncles 76 came with the high rize version of the stock looking hood and he wants to swap it with a stock one (Think he changed his mind when I explained it was needed to use with his performer rpm intake and air cleaner setup.)
My car came with the taller greenwood twin turbo hood and I like the looks it clears my high rise setup well too..

The twin turbo is likely the most popular c3 corvette scoop in a close tie with the timeless L-88, as you noticed it looks super nice and gives you a world of space, this was something I never really understood on the c3, lots of other cars had scoops that would clear stuff to me the best of the stock c3 hoods are still too low, but anyone with a scoop on a c3 knows it does show up looking out the wind screen, likely why chevy didn't push taller scoops.
I have a AirGap intake, Holley DP w elec choke and a LT-1 14x3 filter on my 73 with a 76 stock CI hood. Plenty of clearance there! How high are you looking to go? assuming the L-82 is stock?
The quick answer is a long L-88 hood would give a bit more room.
My 72 has an Ecklers L88 hood. The fit is excellent. The hood has enough room for Dart SHP Special High Performance Dual Plane Intake Manifolds 42811000, custom matched 1 inch spacer & carb and k&n air filter. There is still some space.
Good luck with the new hood.

I just installed a 1 1/2 inch drop K&N air cleaner base (about $30) so I could add a thicker insulating gasket under the carb of my 68 with BB and aftermarket "long style" BB hood. Before, the wing nut on the air cleaner touched the hood. Now there is lots of clearance.
