I am looking at a 68 with an NOM 427 in it. What are the clues (if any) that the car was originally a BB? What block casting numbers are correct for this car? Thanks.
I don't have enough information in front of me right now, but would you let me know if you don't buy it, and also if you would be selling your '66. Thanks.
The car should have a rear sway bar, heavy duty side yokes on the rear end with caps and bolts instead of u-bolts. It should also have a 27" core radiator. If it doosn't have a fuel return line then it was a big block car. If there is a return line that doesn't automatically make it a small block car, cince the 390hp motors used a quadrajet and had the return line.
Actually, the '68 big block radiator and support is different from the other big block C3s. The core is 23", and the entire radiator with side tanks is around 27.5". Which 427 is it?
I think what he's saying is that he doesn't know which 427, or even that it was a 427, only that it's got a replacement 427 in it now, so he needs clues about whether it had ANY 427 in it originally.
Hey, Gary--you want some company looking at that car, lemme know. You probably know what to look for more than I do, but I'd be happy to go along for another set of eyes.
Thanks for the tips, gentlemen.
I'm not going to buy the car (too many projects as it is), but if anybody is looking for BB convert project, I posted the info under C3's for sale/wanted.
