Hello Fellow Vetteheads, Installed an Edelbrock 2101 intake and a mated 1406 carb when closing the hood it was snug to the point where the air cleaner is leaving an imprint in the insulation but not bowing the hood Edelbrock assured me that this setup is for a Corvette for this very issue should I be concerned do I need to consider another air cleaner setup. Thank You

I had hood clearance issues on my BB in my 68 convert. K&N makes a 1 1/2 inch dropped bottom plate for the air cleaner. Makes a big difference. The PO did not check hood clearance and cracked the hood when it was closed the first time.
I'm using an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake with an Edelbrock carb, stock air cleaner, and stock hood on my 79. If my setup fits (according to Edelbrock's website, it doesn't fit), then yours should.
I also used a Holley with a generic drop base air cleaner, and it fit just as well.

Didnt they change the air cleaner design a bit over the years? funny how things fit so differently for some.. There has to be more clearance variations than just engine mounts can provide between the c3 years..
Mine was long gone so I used a drop base plate I had laying around with my polished rpm clone and holley but I have the highrise greenwood hood and have extra space even with a 1/2" wood spacer..

QUOTE=MelWff;1592380696]if the engine rocks it sounds like it will be a potential problem. Are you using a drop down air cleaner?
What is a drop down air cleaner[/QUOTE] Its basically a regular air cleaner only the base that sits on the carb is lower around the outer ring where the filter goes than the inner ring where it sits on the carb... this allows the air cleaner to sit lower on the carb....
like this..
they work like this...
