I live in central NJ and am interested in purchasing a 68-72 convertible. Just sold my 87 last weekend and am set on getting a C3.
I owned my 87 for 10 years, but I've never driven a C3. Before I take the plunge and buy one, I thought I'd find a classic car dealer and test drive a few to see how they feel compared to my 87.
Can anyone recommend a classic vette dealer in NJ?
Or, is there anyone out there in the central jersey area that can show me their car Saturday morning and educate me a little on the C3?
I know the C4s real well, but don't know the first thing about C3s!!
I cant help in NJ but you can try Stoudt's in Reading, PA. if you cant find anybody. NJ Pike to PA Pike to Valley Forge (exit 24) to Rt 422W to Rt 12N. I'd call them to see what they have in stock. I know they allow test drives.
If you aren't doing anything on Wed night (9/11) a bunch of C3's are getting together at Hooters off the Valley Forge Exit (PA turnpike) around 7 PM. Some newer vettes show up and there will be a lot of C3 discussions going on over drinks & food.
I'll be there with my CE too
Dang! Wish I could make it. I work in Manhattan - 7 to 6. No way I could make it out there in time - Especially on 9/11. This island will be in lockdown!
We get together every 2nd Wed of the month. Maybe next month, we stay there for a while anyway.
I was going to recommend Stoudt's also.
Shoot me an IM if you need addtional info for these "meetings" :seeya
My Corvette Club had "shows" first Sat of each month too. Next one is Oct 5th. A bunch of C3's in the club too.
I just called stoudt's. They have 1 68-82 in stock, (119000 miles original unrestored). That mileage is way high for me, but at least I can drive a C3 there and see how they feel vs. a C4.
I think I might head over there on Sat.
I thought there was also someplace in south jersey......
Spoke to Joe. They didn't have anything right now that would meet my needs, but he took my name. How do you know him?
The thing is I really want to drive a C3, so I know how they feel vs. the C4 I just sold. These classic car dealers are pretty reluctant to let you test drive.
There are no classic (vette) dealers in our area that I know of. There is a dealer in Lakewood that usually has a few chrome bumper sharks, in fact he had a very nice 71 LS6 survivor convertible a while back. He is across the street and down the road a bit from another classic car dealer. names are something like #1 classics, and/or #1 golden classics, I get them confused. Fun to visit, I dont know about test drives, I would be very very very careful about buying from either of these dealers. Hopefully we will have some sharks at the Summit car show Sunday Sep 22. :) I can offer you a test drive but only in the passenger seat of mine. :) MJ
Fulopd,
I live in North Brunswick, which is not far form Warren. There is a Corvette show in Lakewood on route 88 this Sunday the 15th. It is at Pine Belt Chev. It is run by Corvette Express and usually gets some very nice vettes of all vintages. The reason I metion this show is that it is on the same road about a quarter of a mile form the dealers that MJ metioned. If you would like to talk to me about C3 's and would like to see how they ride e-mail me and we can talk. Be careful on the car you use a model for ride charaterics , as some worn out cars ride and handle terrible.
