Default adjusting the telescopic steering wheel

How do you adjust the telescopic steering wheel .. make it come out or in?My 1980 has it but i can just get it to tilt but cant adjust it .

If it is like the 70s models you don't use the the "tilt" handle to teley the steering wheel. There is a seperate "sliding lever" on the column just behing the horn. slide it to the left or right.

Graydog, your car looks great in your signiture pic but it the size of the white background is 1792 x 1200 (HUGE) and your actual sig pic is only ~227 x 176. This causes forum readers to have to scroll left and right to see all of the text. If could crop out the white background, it would help a lot.
