Default Electrical Issue - Front Left Turn Signal

My left front turn signal will not work. The signal at instrument panel blinks and the tail light blinks but no front signal. Installed new light assembly and bulb, but nothing. My assembly came with necked wires, so I use a male disconnect connector to make the connection from assembly to wire harness connector. Anyone have any ideas why the front would not be working. Should I be able to measure voltage at the assembly when the switch and signal are in the "on" position? Your help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

If the parking bulb lights up then the ground is good.
With the key ON and the turn signal lever set for a left turn see in you have 12 volts on the light blue wire in the socket.
If not then go to the harmonica connection. Check "H" for 12 volts coming out of the steering column half.

If I turn on the switch and turn on the parking lights, the turn signal bulb will light both elements but will not blink with the turn signal on. If I switch the yellow and brown wire, the bulb will only burn one element, but still won't flash. The 3rd wire is black and it is in the slot perpendicular to the other 2 slots.

The brown wire should light the park light filament only. The yellow wire is for the left REAR brake light and turn signal. The wire to the left FRONT turn signal is lt blue. It sounds like your wires are not correct.

The light socket I purchased from NAPA, it said that it would work front or rear.

That's true, the yellow wire can go to the turn signal filament. It should connect to the blue wire in your harness. The brown and black should connect to the like colors in your harness. Make sure black is to ground and brown to the running lights. Without a good ground at that socket, all kinds of strange things can happen with the lights.
