Default Removable crossmember install: DFW

I am going to install a Tremec 5 speed and would like to make my trans crossmember removable before I begin. Does anyone know of any shops in the DFW area, preferably closer to Fort Worth, where I can get it done?

Kris, do you have the cross member all ready?

I just have a question as to the extent of the project.

American Powertrain makes a kit to make your cross member removable, I used one on my '72 it is works great and was easy to do.

Thanks, I've seen their kit but I still need a place to install it or one like it.

I like the way you did it, looks very easy and inexpensive. How long have you had it installed? Any issues?

cut yours out, take the crossmember to a welder, weld tabs onto the crossmember.
drill mounting holes in the tabs, take home and mark tab holes on your frame.
and drill out the holes for new mounting bolts.
I never take myC3 to a shop and leave it.
too much **** can happen, opps sorry about mucking up your door, or whatever damage.

Had it 0ver 3 years. No issues or problems.
Biggest hassle was using reciprocating saw to remove the member.
Used channel iron welded to member and drilled mounting holes.
Was very inexpensive, weld shop charged around $20.

No Sh*t!!

I just (just) painted the car and went (had to go actually) to get the state inspection sticker. The kid pulled it inot the stall for the inspection, mis judged the lenght of the nose and tapped a tool chest. Nice gouge on the nose tip. All I got is a "Oh, sorry."
